After a three year wait for the tapes, Grayhound returns with a mighty
package...
‘2 Bullets’ was the surprise hit of 2004 finding its way into many top jocks’
playlists. Launching the Bay Area native’s career it was licensed to mix CDs
from Lee Burridge vs Sander Kleinenberg & Lectroluv.
In the downtime Michoacan has become a hot commodity with releases on Wax,
FutureHouse, Tiny Sticks & 2020 Vision. This is his third outing on Grayhound
where he made his debut with a voice like David Byrne.
The Glimmers Hacienda Dub is a balearic builder - all pianos and squelchy
bass. Europe's finest (K7, Eskimo, Diskimo) even saw fit to throw dub-disco
fella Ray Mang (Noid, Rong) into the mix whilst keeping Michoacan's trademark
synths.
DJ Harvey's MasterData Mix is more of a rework than a remix. You'd be hard
pressed to find much from the original but this acid rock guitar mix is a
fair indication how far left this guy leans. Spending much his time in search
of the ultimate wave at his home in Venice Beach his mix might be termed
ambient-surf-rock (???) with Harvey (Sarcastic Disco, Black Cock, Map of
Africa) himself on the mic and support from Simon 'Woolfie' James (Rong),
Felix Dickinson (Cynic, Urban Myth) & Tony Watson (Mekanic).
Look for this first and foremost on shiny Grayhound vinyl. For the digitally
inclined it will be up on
i-Tunes, Beatport, Stompy etc by the spring.
